Your Guide to Becoming
A Digital Nomad
Remote jobs, real talk, and everything you need to know about working and travelling the world at the same time.
Find Your Dream Job How to Get Started
The Laptop Lifestyle.
For Real This Time.
A digital nomad is someone who works AND travels. It is the laptop lifestyle while jet-setting around the world. Someone who has the ability to work remotely and chooses to travel, changing their backdrop rather than working from home. That is it. That simple.
There is no one type of digital nomad, no specific job, no specific age, and no specific background required. If you can do your work from a laptop and a wifi connection, you can do it from anywhere.
A Typical Day In My LifeSpoiler: it's always different.
Sometimes I am waking up and hiking a mountain before work. Other days I am waking up in the middle of the night for a meeting with someone on the other side of the world, or I am off by 1pm and zipping around chasing waterfalls. Other times it is being holed up in a cafe all day on my laptop, catching up on work if I took extra time off or rushing to hit a deadline.
The bottom line is, it is always different. But it is also not always glamorous. There are plenty of times where I get lonely and crave a routine. The highs always outweigh the lows though. Always.
Ready to Make It Actually Happen?
I dreamt about this lifestyle since 2017. It did not become a reality until the end of 2022. Here is what I wish I had known sooner.
Figure Out What You Already Have
Write down all of your current skills and experience: past or current jobs, degrees, certifications, passions, hobbies, interests. Then see if there is already a specific industry or niche you could apply those to. You probably have more to offer than you think.
Match Your Skills to Remote Work
Figure out what types of jobs exist within your field that can be done remotely. Or do it backwards - find remote jobs that interest you and figure out how to get there. There are so many online courses out there to basically learn anything. Everyone started somewhere.
Stop Wishing and Just Go For It
The single biggest thing that held me back was not knowing what I could do to earn money or how to find someone to actually pay me. But at some point you have to stop waiting for it to happen to you and make it happen. The rest you figure out along the way.
Everyone has it. Even the best in their field. It is human nature. At the end of the day, we all have the capacity to learn something new and become great at it. There is nothing worse than being new at something, it feels embarrassing for no reason. Push through it. You will get there.
Find Your Dream Remote Job
There are so many ways to work and travel and I wanted to prove it. I interviewed women from all different backgrounds who are out there doing it right now. If they can do it, so can you.
